Terms
The plain-English version of what you agree to by using Agora. It is short because the site is simple: it shows cards, connects people, and stays out of the middle.
What Agora is, and is not
Agora is a marketplace of independent sports card sellers. Each storefront belongs to the person who runs it, and shows cards that person has listed on eBay. Agora is not a party to any sale or trade. It does not hold cards, hold money, ship anything, or guarantee anything about a card, a seller or a trader. It is the notice board, not the shop.
Agora is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by eBay Inc., PayPal, PSA, BGS, SGC, or any card manufacturer, league or player.
Accounts
You must be 18 or older to hold an account, open a storefront, trade, or enter a giveaway. Sign-in is by email link; you are responsible for the inbox that link goes to. One person, one account: duplicate accounts made to get around a limit, a score or a giveaway rule may all be removed.
Opening a storefront requires connecting the eBay account whose listings it will show, and you must be the owner of that eBay account. The storefront's name, logo, announcement and other text are yours and must be yours to use.
Buying
Every card links to its live eBay listing. A purchase made there is an eBay transaction under eBay's terms and protections, and Agora has no part in it. Some sellers also offer a direct price through PayPal; that is an arrangement between you and the seller, not covered by eBay's Money Back Guarantee, and Agora does not see or handle the payment. Prices, stock and descriptions come from the seller's eBay listings and may lag them by a few hours.
Trading
A trade is an agreement between the two people in it. When a seller accepts an offer, each side owes the other what was agreed, posted at their own cost with a tracking number, within a reasonable time. Agora records what each side reports — shipped, received, complete — and keeps a Trade Score from those records, but does not verify a shipment, inspect a card, or resolve a dispute between the parties beyond correcting its own records.
Reporting that the other side never delivered is a serious step. It is recorded against them and shown to every shop they deal with. Making such a report you know to be false, or entering a tracking number for a parcel you did not send, is grounds for removal.
Conduct
Anything you write on Agora — a shop name, an announcement, a note on an offer, a message — is held to the same rule: no slurs, no explicit material, no impersonation, no claiming to be official when you are not, and no using the site to defraud anyone. Text that breaks the rule is refused at the point you try to save it; accounts that keep trying are removed.
The site's operator may hide a card, suspend a storefront, correct a trade record, or close an account, with or without notice, where these terms are broken or where doing so protects other people using the site.
Giveaway rules
No purchase necessary. A purchase does not improve your chances of winning. Void where prohibited.
Sponsor. Agora, agoracards.com. The giveaway is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by eBay, PayPal, any card manufacturer, league or player.
Who can enter. Anyone 18 or older with an Agora account, which is free. Legal residents of the United States. The site's operator and members of their household cannot win.
How to enter. While a giveaway is running, sign in and press Enter on the giveaway shown in the header. One entry per person for each giveaway. Entering costs nothing and does not require buying, bidding, trading or opening a storefront. You may leave a giveaway at any time before it closes.
When. Each giveaway shows its closing time on the site. Entries after that time are not counted.
The draw. One winner is selected at random from all valid entries by the site's database when the giveaway closes. Odds depend on the number of entries. The draw is final.
The prize. The card shown for that giveaway, one per giveaway, with an approximate retail value as listed. No cash substitute and no transfer. If the card shown becomes unavailable, a card of equal or greater value is substituted.
Winning. The winner is told through the site and by email to the address on their account, and has 7 days to provide a shipping address. If they do not, or the address is outside the eligible area, the prize is forfeited and a new winner is drawn. The prize is shipped at the sponsor's cost within 14 days of receiving the address.
Taxes. Any tax on a prize is the winner's responsibility. Where prizes to one person in a year reach the threshold at which the sponsor must report them, the winner will be asked for the information needed to do so before the prize ships.
Your name. The winner's display name may be shown on the site as the winner of that giveaway. Nothing else about the winner is published.
Everything else. By entering you release the sponsor from any claim arising from the giveaway or the use of the prize, to the extent the law allows. The sponsor may cancel or amend a giveaway if it cannot be run as planned. The list of winners for the past year is available on request through the site.
The legal part
Agora is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, Agora and its operator are not liable for any loss arising from a purchase, a trade, a giveaway, the conduct of another person using the site, or the site being unavailable or wrong. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid Agora itself, which is nothing.
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state from which Agora is operated. If any part of them cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. Agora may change these terms; material changes will be obvious rather than slipped in, and the date below will move.
