Privacy

The short version

There is no advertising, no tracking pixels and no third-party cookies. Nothing is sold or shared with anyone. The only personal information collected is what you deliberately type into a form, or save while signed in, and it is used only to show it back to you. Storefronts keep a daily visit count — a number per shop per day, with nothing recorded about who visited. Shops you follow and cards you watch are private to you: a seller sees how many followers they have, never who.

What is collected

Seller accounts

Sellers sign in with an email address, and connect their eBay account through eBay's own authorisation screen. Agora receives the eBay username that eBay reports, plus a token that allows reading that seller's public listings. Agora never sees an eBay password, and the token is stored server-side where the site's public code cannot read it. Disconnecting is possible at any time, from here or from your eBay account settings.

Your account, and what you save

Anyone can sign in with an email address, whether or not they run a shop. An account exists so the site can hold two things for you: the shops you follow, and the cards you are watching. For a watched card the date you saved it and its price at that moment are kept, so the site can tell you what has changed since.

Opening a storefront of your own starts you off following Agora's first shop, so the site has something to show you on day one. It is an ordinary follow: it appears in your list, and you can remove it the same way as any other.

Both lists are private to you. The database refuses to return either one to anybody else — that is enforced by the database itself, not by the page. A seller can see how many people follow their shop, as a number, and there is no way for them to see the names behind it. Nothing you follow or watch is shown publicly, and none of it is used to build a profile or to advertise anything.

Alerts about price changes and new listings are worked out in your own browser, from your lists and the public card data, at the moment you open your account page. No alert is stored, and nothing is sent anywhere.

Giveaways

Entering a giveaway records that you entered and nothing else — no address, no details. Entrants are not shown to each other, and the shop running it sees a count until a winner is drawn.

The winner is picked at random by the database itself, so nobody sees the list of entrants and then chooses from it. Only the winner is asked for a postal address, only after they have won, and it is used to post the card and for nothing else. If you would rather not give one, say so and the prize goes to somebody else.

Trades

A trade offer — the cards, any cash, any note and photos — is visible to the two people in it and to the site, and to nobody else. Once a trade is accepted, each side enters a postal tracking number when they ship. That number is shown to the other party in the trade and is kept with the trade's record; it is not shown publicly. Whether a trade completed, or fell through and on whose side, is kept and counted into a Trade Score. A shop's score is public, since it is what a person is about to trade with. A collector's score is shown only to the shops they make offers to.

Storefront visit counts

When you open a seller's storefront, a counter for that shop and that day is increased by one, so the seller can see how much interest their cards attract. No IP address, browser, location or identifier is stored, nothing is written that could distinguish one visitor from another, and the same visit is not counted twice in one browsing session. Sellers see a daily total and nothing else.

Browsing

Filters and sort choices you pick are kept in the page URL so a view can be shared or bookmarked. They stay in your browser and are not recorded. No account or cookie is needed to browse.

Where it is kept, and who else is involved

Data is stored with Supabase (database) and the site is served by Cloudflare. Both process data on Agora's behalf. Cloudflare handles requests as part of serving the site, which includes your IP address for security and abuse prevention.

Card listings and photos come from eBay, and buying a card takes you to eBay, where their own privacy policy applies. Paying direct takes you to PayPal, where theirs does. Agora never sees or stores card or bank details for any payment.

Your choices

You can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted — including an account, a storefront, and everything attached to either, such as your follows and your watchlist. Requests are handled promptly and without fuss. You can also clear any of it yourself at any time from your account page.

To have anything removed, message Agora on eBay and say what you would like deleted.

Children

Agora is not intended for children under 13, and information is not knowingly collected from them. If you believe a child has submitted something, get in touch and it will be deleted.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date below changes with it. Material changes will be obvious rather than quietly slipped in.
